Working with Jami Kratz has been a truly rewarding experience. Her strong work ethic and dedication to every project she takes on are evident in the quality of her designs, which consistently showcase both creativity and attention to detail.

William H. Symington, Scenic Design Mentor
Grand Canyon University

Jami is a great designer to work with, as the technical director implementing her designs her attention to detail and understanding of shape helps to determine the overall construction of a design. Her ability to work within the constraints of a space and in a company structure is also lends itself to a great collaboration and finished product.

Jami Kratz is an incredible person to work with. She is organized, considerate, reliable, and has a wonderful attention to detail

Abbie Roberson, Assistant Scenic Designer
Ada & the Engine

Working with Jami was a wonderful process from a creative and logistical standpoint. I've worked with plenty of designers in the past an none of them can craft a story driven scene like she can.

Hi there!

Welcome to my portfolio! Explore how I bring stories to life through scenic design, carpentry, & painting.

My Design Philosophy

The set of any production is a playground. It is a playground for the director to explore, the actors to play on, and the audience to visit. It creates the world for the story to live in. An entire world. Filled with all of the small details that inhabit our worlds: the pictures of one's family pinned up next to her desk at the office from when they didn't think she was looking, the blooming flowers at the park one's dog peed on last year despite how much he trained him not to, or the junk bin in the garage that is so full it no longer will close. These are the details that show life. They tell the story of the lives of the people who inhabit their world. And just like an old, warm, welcoming friend, the set invites the audience to join in its world and be a part of its life. It calls the audience to come play on its playground.
